Greetings to all the fans of “The Big Fighter”,

Well, it’s official. We conducted a brief with the Commander, Naval Air Forces U.S. Atlantic Fleet and he has approved our entire fleet flying program, including the Tomcat!

The F-14 will participate in the following events at the 2006 Oceana Air Show:

  • U.S. Navy Fleet Flyby: Four Tomcats with four Hornets and four Super Hornets (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
  • U.S. Navy Air Power Demonstration: Four Tomcats performing the division level lay-down maneuver (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
  • Night Afterburner flyby at the 31st Street park to kick off the Neptune Festival Beach Blast (Saturday evening; event starts at 6:00pm; flyby scheduled for 7:30pm)

Thanks to everyone for your continued support and well wishes regarding this fabled Fighter. The 2006 Oceana Air Show will be a fitting finale for this historic aircraft and an excellent tribute to the men and women that flew and maintained her for so long.

Regards,
CDR Rich "Corky" Erie
